Wemyss pottery was first produced in Kirkcaldy, Fife, in 1882.

The pottery closed in 1957, despite its wares being a great favourite of the Queen Mother, and the rights to the name acquired by Royal Doulton. In 1994 the Wemyss pottery was revived in Fife by local artist Griselda Hill.
